I have a feeling that these ships will pay a large role in the coming movies.Finalizer, the Resurgent-class Destroyer controlled First Order is twice the length of a Star Destroyer from Galactic Empire, but you may soon dock the starship in your room with the Star Wars Finalizer LEGO Set. The Resurgent class Star Destroyer seems to be a well designed successor to those used by the Empire. There were other improvements made, including a secondary command bridge, and special Kyber crystals that allow for greater performance from the turbolasers, but they are reserved for the elite due to their short supply. To further improve the carrier functionality, ships of this class can launch their full complement faster than their Imperial predecessors, and possess a dedicated flight control for their fighters.
The Finalizer had two full wings of the First Order’s new TIE fighters, which would probably mean a total of 144 fighters, 100 assault craft, prefabricated parts for a ground base, at least some ground vehicles, and a full legion of stormtroopers. While this class is a mighty weapons platform, it also marked a renewed interest in using Star Destroyers as carriers for fighters and ground forces. In addition to the heavy turbolaser turrets and batteries, this design includes point-defense weapons such as anti-fighter turrets and missile emplacements for defense against smaller ships such as fighters. The immense destructive potential of these weapons allows them to overload their targets’ shields, penetrate deep into heavy armor, and even turn the very ground under (or above) their planetary targets into molten slag with relative ease and speed. The Finalizer was armed with several powerful turbolasers that were capable of unleashing brutal barrages on planetary targets from orbit and exchanging fire with other capital ships in prolonged battles. That said, the Finalizer, Kylo Ren’s personal Star Destroyer, is the first of its class.īuilt in clear violation of the New Republic’s treaties with the First Order regarding the size and armament of capital ships, a Resurgent class Star Destroyer should be feared and respected. While the First Order lacks the resources to build, operate, and maintain war ships of this class on a scale anywhere near that of the Imperial Fleets’, this design still brings back memories of the Empire’s might in addition to being formidable in its own right.
Designed by the First Order, the mighty Resurgent class Star Destroyers were meant to be evocative of the Empire’s capital ships.
